The islands of endless summer!

The Cape Verde Islands with their year-round sun and long stretches of white sand beaches are a stunningly beautiful archipelago that sits off the West Coast of Africa. It is a popular but somewhat of a sceret vacation location for Europeans. The country is still relatively unknown to most Americans. WE ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE THAT!

The islands of Cape Verde are rare, original, and full of contrasts. Their aridity resembles a lunar landscape. Culturally, the once uninhabited islands were used as a stop-off point for the slave ships heading to Portugal and America. The descendants of those slaves mixed with the Portuguese settlers, and this created an ethnic mosaic and extraordinary culture that is well worth experiencing.
“The sky, unspoiled sea, and welcoming Cape Verdean sprirt will sweep you away.”

ITINERARY

Day 1: November 30th - USA: Depart from USA (Flight suggestions in January)

Day 2 : December 1st - Arrival at Amílcar Cabral International Airport (SID) is also known as Sal International Airport not later than 11 AM (group transfer at 12:30 PM). Swept with long, white-sand beaches and swashed by bright-turquoise shores, it's not surprising that Sal is the most popular island in the Cape Verde archipelago. Orientation lunch and time to unwind from your international flight. Welcome happy hour.

Day 3: December 2nd - Today, you visit Sal's crayon-coloured capital city, Espargos (Portuguese for "asparagus"), and the village of Palmeira to experince daily life through the eyes of a local. The afternoon will be filled with culture, history, traditional food, and entertainment. Learn Funana, a music and dance genre. There will be a dance-off for a special prize. Do not be afraid; there will be lots of liquid courage available. What happens in Cape Verde stays in Cape Verde. :)

Day 4: December 3rd - Have you ever wanted to experience floating in the Dead Sea? Well, Cape Verde has salinas of Pedra de Lume, the second saltiest water in the world after the Dead Sea. Salinas of Pedra de Lume is located in the crater of an extinct volcano, which is believed to be around 50,000 years old. Take a dip therapeutic volcanic mud and then float on the exfoliating and skin softening salt water. You skin will be as soft as a baby's backside. Speaking of babies, get ready for something truly diffrent. Some people dream of swimming with sharks (definitely NOT our thing). How about wading with baby sharks? Do not worry, the baby sharks are not considered a threat to people and the water is too sallow for Momma and Pappa Shark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGb6sV3yYv8

Day 5: December 4th - Today take sail for a day at sea in all-white swimwear and cover-ups. Make sure to make yours BOLD and memorable. Any cover-up or hair wrap must also be solid white. Please, no other color should be added. Only silver jewelry.

Day 6 - December 5th - Life is a beach! The beaches of Sal is known for activities galore and the melanated or well tanned men (and women) that participate in watersports like wind and kite surfing. We are not sure which is more beautiful, the beaches or the men. We will let you deside! After breakfast, grab you themed swimsuit and transfer to a popular beach to soak up the sunshine and beautiful walking"sights". In the evening enjoy a special Globalnista beach bar barbecue. Maybe, invite your new friend(s). ;-) Once again, what happens in Cape Verde ... stays in Cape Verde. lol

Day 7 - December 6th - Today is your free day to enjoy the island at your pace. It will be our last evening on the island, so you ALREADY KNOW.
Day 8 - December 7th - Goodbye, Cape Verde! For those that are continuing on, hello, Portugal! Group transfer (based on suggested flight) to the airport for your flght home or to portugal.
If you have travel with us to Portugal before do not worry. this experince definitely will be different. Our focus will be a Black in Portugal cultural immersion past and present. After hotel check-in you will have a Black History city tour by Tuk-Tuk with that will end with Q&A session with locals, free flowing wine, and informative conversation.

Day 9 - December 8th - Portugal has recently become one of the world's largest producers and exporters of wine. Today will be all about wine and food, as we eat and drink our way through the city. We will start with a wine tasting, followed by an Afro-Portuguese meal (OMG,the food). Spend the afternoon walking or sleeping off the food and wine before we start again. Early evening sip and dip at another wine tasting before heading off for dinner at another black-owned restaurant for a Cape Verdean-themed party and maybe show off your Funana dance skills. What happens in Portugal, also stays in Portugal :)

Day 9 - December 9th - Early morning group transfer to the airport or storge your luggage at the hotel book an optional visit to Sinta to visit the National Palace of Pena.
